Puuuuurrrrrfect Pasta Night
A Puurrfect Success!

On Oct 17th in honor of  National Feral Cat Day Coney Island West hosted a fund-raising event for the Catalina Island Humane Society to help support our spay/neuter and adoption programs.  Eventhough the weather was cold and drizzly hundreds of plates of pasta were sold!

For a minimum $12 donation diners recieved a fabulous plate of made-to-order pasta.  The Coney Island chefs were fabulous and many local businesses donated bottles of wine and other drinks.

Thanks everyone who donated and supported the Catalina Island Humane Society!

NEWS & INFO

Aug 2010 -

We have a new part-time employee!  Her name is Sarah and we are glad to have her aboard.  So if you want to visit our Adoption Trailer just give us a call for current visiting hours.

Volunteers Needed!  Please check out our "You Can Help" page for more info.  Right now we really need some more volunteers to help out at the trailer but if you don't have the ability to commit to a regular schedule we would could just add you to the list of people we call to help out when we have a special event or fundraising drive.  Help Us Help Them!

Another 10 cats win the lottery!  A group of 10 more cats were relocated from Santa Catalina Island Company properties to The Cat House on the Kings.  Earlier in the year SCICo approached us to ask for assistance in relocating cats from the Descanso Beach and Casino colonies.  We applauded SCICo for taking an humane approach to decreasing the size of those colonies as they developed their properties so we were happy to help out.  The colony manager helped trap the cats, we provided the space to house the cats and the clinic for Dr. Denney to use for the health checks and any necessary spay/neuters, and SCICo transported the cats and paid for the whole project.  By the end of the project 60 cats will have been relocated.  SCICo does understand the importance of keeping some cats on their properties for rodent and rattlesnake deterrents, as well as keeping other cats from filling the void so don't despair if you enjoy seeing the cats.  Good job everyone!

Mother's Day Quilt Raffle Winner Drawn- Catalina Quilters by the Sea generously crafted and donated a beautiful animal themed quilt to us to use as a fundraiser.  We started selling raffle tickets last year for this amazing piece.  On Mother's Day we drew the winning ticket.  JJ Poindexter of the Avalon Harbor Department was the lucky winner.  He used it as a "last minute Mother's Day gift" for his wife.  The raffle raised over $3500 in greatly needed donations!  These funds will go to help support our adoption and TNR programs.  Thank you everyone for you support.  And a special thanks to The Quilters for donating such a beautiful piece made with such exquisite craftsmanship and artistry!
